Jessica Beran

Jessica Beran

Founder and Owner

Founder and Owner of Dance Moves Charleston, mom of two teenagers, and happy, longtime resident of James Island! I've also been a lifelong dancer since I got my first taste of movement and rhythm at the age of 3. I studied dance at my highschool, as well as, danced with a pre professional company until graduation. I then decided to pursue my dream of being a dance professional in college, even though everyone told me "You will never do anything with a dance degree". I earned my BA in dance from the University of South Carolina and studied intensely at the Alvin Ailey School in New York City. It was then that I first understood the power of dance—the sense of security, discipline, and confidence it gave me as well as it being an outlet for me to express myself authentically. Not surprisingly, dance has remained a steadfast love in my life and I have been honored to share this with the Charleston community for the last 22 years.
